The Assistant Technical Director reports to the Technical Director and Directors of Scenic Production and assists with: the execution of productions from first briefing to load out; interfacing with clients to create a stunning vision; help with creating production schedules and delegation of task to respected departments. This is a position in which you will constantly be learning and have the ability to contribute to the growth of the company.

Qualifications
  • Minimum BA or BFA. Technical Production degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience in theater, technical theater and fabrication
  • Ability to make decisions when prioritizing the short and long term objectives for projects
  • Must have outstanding relationship skills and have a team oriented, collaborative work ethic

Hope your bags are packed because as an ATD you will be traveling all over the country, sometimes even abroad! When on-site an ATD will assist with the load-in of the show and lead crews.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Head Scenic Carpenter will oversee the scenic staff of all departments and act as a liaison between shop staff and the Director of Scenic Production and Construction Manager. This person will work on the shop floor and serve as a model, exemplifying expected standards of quality work and shop safety.

The candidate must have a minimum of 4-5 years practical experience in the exhibit, tradeshow, and/or theatrical set construction and supervision. Professional skills include, scenic woodworking, materials ordering, labor management, coordination with office and shop staff, daily reports, and high level problem solving skills. The Head Scenic Carpenter will work to oversee fabrication, and coordination of all shop projects to ensure accurate, timely, on-budget completion. Hands on experience related to finish carpentry, welding, and metal fabrication, paint, soft goods and general construction. Working knowledge of various software such as; Word, Excel, and Vector Works is required. Theatre lighting, rigging and fabrication background are required. This person must be willing to travel if required. This is a position in which you will constantly be learning and have the ability to contribute to the growth of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

The CNC Operator / Scenic Carpenter will work under the supervision of the Scenic Construction Manager (SCM) and the Director of Scenic Operations.  This position is primarily responsible for the complete operation and maintenance of the Multi-cam router. The CNC Operator / Scenic Carpenter will assist the SCM with CNC programming and assist the shop with the construction and handling of scenic product. The CNC Operator / Scenic Carpenter must have a high level of professionalism, a strong organizational background, excellent communication / interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.

CNC operation skills required include, budgeting, materials ordering, labor management, managing client relationships, coordination with office and contractors, daily reports, CAD drafting and high level problem solving skills. Scenic carpentry skills include self-motivation and conscientious fabrication to produce high finish quality scenery while meeting the demands of an aggressive production schedule.   Must have command of hand and stationary woodworking tools. Hands on experience related to design, wood/metal fabrication or general construction. Working knowledge of theatrical and exhibit fabrication techniques; Word, Excel, Vector Works.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Driver/ Warehouse reports to the Directors of Scenic Operations and will be the first one called upon to transport production elements to on-site locations. This position will also conduct pick-ups all around town when needed; assist with pull list, the movement of pulled items to loading zones, along with assisting in returning items back to inventory in a timely manner after a show. Assist with the general prep for loading a truck which would include labeling, wrapping, and packing. This is a position in which you will constantly be learning and have the ability to contribute to the growth of the company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Forklift certified a plus
  • General knowledge of shop safety
  • Heavy lifting required 75 lbs and up
  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Hands on attitude
